Easy bursting test procedure to know about the bursting strength of materials

bursting strength of materials

Do you want to ensure that your packaging materials will not burst while shipping and transporting products to the customers? If yes, then it’s time to test your products accurately with quality testing equipment.  Thus, we at Presto being the leading manufacturer of lab testing instruments have designed high-quality testing equipment known as bursting strength testerThis quality testing equipment has been designed as per industry standards that include ASTM D 3786-01, ASTM D 3786 – 80A, and ISO 1060 PART-1 1987. This will ensure accuracy in test results.

Thus, with the help of the Presto bursting testing instrument, manufacturers can easily test the force required to burst materials like corrugated boxes, fiberboards and other such materials to ensure accuracy in test results. In this blog, we will discuss brief information about the Presto bursting strength tester and how you can easily conduct bursting strength tests on the materials before delivering them to the customers. So, let us get started!

Introduction to Bursting Strength Tests

bursting strength test is a type of mechanical testing that is used to determine the amount of force required to rupture or break a material. This quality test is performed by applying a force to the material until it breaks. Bursting strength tests are commonly used to evaluate the strength of materials such as paper, cardboard, textiles, and plastics.

This quality test can be used to compare the strengths of different materials or to determine the effect of factors such as density on material strength. In some cases, bursting strength tests may also be used to estimate the maximum load that a material can support before failure.

To conduct a bursting test, you will need a sample of the material to be tested, a testing device, and a means to measure the force required to burst the material. You can easily conduct burst tests on the materials with the help of a Presto bursting strength tester.

This high-quality testing equipment has been designed as per industry standards including ASTM D 3786-01, ASTM D 3786 – 80A, and ISO 1060 PART-1 1987.

All about Presto bursting strength tester

Bursting Strength Tester is a consistent testing instrument to indicate the strength and performance of materials like Rexene, leather, paper boards, paper, uneven boards and boxes, industrial fabric and solid fiber boards filter cloth, plastic films, Foils, sheets, etc. Presto BS Tester is manufactured under various Test Standards ASTM D 3786-01, ASTM D 3786 – 80A, and ISO 1060 PART-1 1987.

Bursting strength is the force required to burst or rupture the material under testing. The bursting strength of the test specimen is expressed in terms of Kg/cm². It is measured by giving hydraulic pressure through a rubber diaphragm on the test specimen.

Presto BS tester is widely used in the paper & packaging industry to test the bursting strength of the materials and ensure that quality products will be delivered. Users can easily test their specimens with the use of this lab testing equipment and view test results on digital display.

Now, let us discuss some easy-to-follow steps for conducting bursting strength of materials.

Easy-to-follow steps for conducting bursting strength of materials

  • To initiate the test procedure, begin by preparing the specimen. Following this, connect the machine to a 15 amp, 220 Volts AC power source and activate it.

  • Position the specimen at the center of the platform, aligning it parallel to the compression plate. Ensuring the specimen's accurate central placement is crucial for precise test results; reference marks are available for assistance.

  • Using the rotary switch, lower the compression plate towards the specimen. For expedited positioning, utilize the fast runner mode, which swiftly moves the compression plate above the specimen at a rate of 50 mm/min.

  • To eliminate any potential air gaps between the compression plate and the specimen, apply a preload of 1 or 2 kgf to the specimen.

With these easy-to-perform steps completed, you are now ready to initiate the test seamlessly.
