Perforation means testing the elongation or strength of the material. Hence, the Perforation method of testing is used to measure the elongation and tensile strength of thermoplastic films. The main motive to perform this test is to measure the force which is required to separate the film from the place of perforation. This is carried out with the help of a testing machine known as “Perforation Tester”. During this test, the film is perforated using a flat point and a cylindrical needle. Apart from the perforation force, a noticeable elongation 1 is read from the curve known as “stress-strain” curve. This result is then compared with the convention test of tensile testing. The perforation method requires few samples to perform the test.
